The 1st Annual MTAHPERD 5K Fun Run/Walk
Held at the annual convention, this Fun Run/Walk is a way to commemorate those we have lost who gave their lives to educating children about physical activity and the happiness that comes from living a full and healthy life. This year's race will honor all we have lost, including Ken Cloud, Doug Lebrun, and Pat Kelly, all from Helena.
The event is open to everyone in the community and all net poceeds from the event will go directly to a local charity. Prizes will be given at the race as well.

Pre-Conference Workshops:
Journeys from Home
Join us in Helena on August 7 and 8 for a CyclingSavvy Workshop for Novice/Adults. This workshop includes half-day sessions on three key topics: The Truth and Techniques of Traffic Cycling, Train Your Bike, and Tour of Helena. Click here for more details on this interactive, fun experience!
NASP Certification Training
On August 8, the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) Educator Certification Training will take place in Helena, MT. For PE Teachers, Afterschool Teachers/Program Leaders, and Coaches, this program provides the skills and classroom knowledge necessary to instruct youth in the sport of archery via the International Style Target Archery training for grades 4-12. Training is provided at minimal cost, and OPI credit is available. Click here for full details!
Post-Conference Workshop: Journeys from Home
Journeys from Home will offer a two-day workshop after the Conference that will focus on K-5 commuters. The focus of this workshop is to give educators tools to give children the skills necessary to become confident, competent, and predictable in traffic and to give parents the confidence to allow children to travel freely in their community.
Click here for more details on this two-day workshop that will take place in Helena on August 10 and 11.
As a participant in this workshop in Dillon last year, I must say it is well worth your time. The energy of the class is amazing, and although the class is geared toward K-5 educators, the tools, knowledge, and skill that you leave with are applicable to children, teens, and adults alike! -K.
